auto insurance montreal and Speeding ticket- traffic court- help!?

auto insurance montreal:

Question by wander: Speeding ticket- traffic court- help!?
I was pulled over yesterday by a NY State Trooper for a speeding violation. Yes, I know I shouldn’t have been speeding and the best way to not pay a ticket is to not get one; but I somehow managed to get one while passing a semi before the left lane merged into the right. Needless to say, I am a college student at the moment and I need my car to get to school and work. The fine I can likely pay, however the auto insurance premium increase would be… detrimental to say the least. Thus I believe my best effort would be attend traffic school to keep points off my license and insurance. How would I go about doing this (if possible)?

Several questions about traffic court:

- If I send my ticket in with the plea of “not guilty” checked, will I receive a court date or a pre-trail date? …To my understanding, pleading “not guilty” on the ticket doesn’t mean your saying you didn’t do it but rather you want to go to court to handle it for some reason or another…

- Can I delay my court date? (I take classes in Montreal so driving 5 hours and missing class would be a major issue) and by how much can i delay it? (so its after the end of this semester when I will be working full-time so money will be better off and I could even use public transportation since its only to work and home)

- Same as the main question: Who do you ask for traffic school? and when?

- Do I need to include a letter with the ticket when I send it in?

Thanks in advance!

Yes to both questions and if its your first violation you can ask the judge if you can go to traffic school instead. Or before hand call the court clerks and ask them they have all that info. You can also send a letter if you like but its easier to call the court clerk and ask.

Found auto insurance montreal in Do I get demerit points from a collision?

auto insurance montreal:

Question by Ziggy G: Do I get demerit points from a collision?
I live in Montreal QC, A driver hit my car in a parking lot and wasn’t my fault at all.
The driver also admitted their fault and said that their brake wasn’t working properly.
I made the claim to my auto insurance and explained to the agent that
I was getting out of a parking zone by reversing to my right and as I was finished, I stopped for 3 seconds as I was changing my gear to drive to move forward. But before I even move forward,
a car hit my left rear corner bumper. So then the agent told me that I am responsible anyway because it’s Quebec’s law and then later contacted the other driver and then called me back to confirm that I am responsible. Now…the problem is I have a probationary license and I am worried.

Does this mean that I cannot drive for like 3 months before getting my permanent license? I didn’t tell the agent that I have a probationary license.

So what will happen?

Best answer:

Answer by JetDoc
Unless your insurance agent is a lawyer, he needs to stop quoting laws he doesn’t understand.

You backed from a parking slot, came to a full and complete stop and another car came up and struck you from behind. There was no police presence at this ‘accident’ and no official police report filed. No one was issued a citation. You will not receive demerit points and no record at all will be posted to your driver’s license.

As far as insurance is concerned, I think you need to find another agent, because the one you have is not working in your best interest.

Okay John. You have been injured in a motor vehicle related accident. In Quebec, we drivers pay a lot of money to the SAAQ (Societe d’Assurance Automobile du Quebec) each year. Contact them. Her private insurance might try to get out of paying, but the SAAQ will take up this case. Working or not working, you have the right for compensation for injuries incurred. I don’t know if you speak French or not (it will go faster in French, but English will work). Look up the address for the SAAQ (it will be under the blue pages in the phone book). Go there. Take a number. Wait. Bring the police reports (hope you have them). You will be taken care of. Good luck.

cheap car insurance in montreal and How can I cheaply travel between Montreal and New York?

cheap car insurance in montreal:

Question by ems2419: How can I cheaply travel between Montreal and New York?
I have two weeks – flying in to Montreal from the UK, then back from New York. We ideally want a road trip so we can explore places slightly off the beaten track (we want to go via thousand islands for example). Car hire between the two is really expensive though… Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap ways of travelling around, cheap car insurance, any other novel ideas, etc? Thanks

Found cheap car insurance in montreal in Paramedic training in Ontario wanting to move to Montreal?

cheap car insurance in montreal:

Question by Vinger: Paramedic training in Ontario wanting to move to Montreal?
I live in Sudbury, Ontario and have all my life, but I am really looking something bigger and better. I have to live here another 2 years since I will be going to school to be a paramedic in the fall but I will only be 19 when I graduate with no student loans. I want to take full advantage of having a decent paying career at such a young age and move to either Ottawa or Montreal. I feel like these cities are big and beautiful and lack the grimey feel and massive population that turns me off of Toronto. I consider myself to be a fairly fluent french speaker, and although english is my first language I have been speaking french since I was 4 and have been in french immersion my whole life. I actually considered accepting an offer of admission from a french college, but ultimately accepted at an english college.

I’m really starting to think Montreal would be the city for me but I want to know if can work as a paramedic in Montréal if I took my college in english. Does anyone know anything about this sort of thing? Do the paramedics in Montreal have to work solely in french? Would I need to take some sort of test to show that I could do the job in french? I believe my course is nationally accredited, which I think allows me to work anywhere in the country, but I’m hazy on the details. I know this is looking a bit into the future, I’m just really excited for things to come and need to figure what I can and can’t do.

Also, does anyone know how much paramedics make in Montreal? I read that there are no ACP or CCP (Advanced Care / Critical Care Paramedics) in Quebec. Knowing that these career advancements are non-existent in Quebec I hope that the salary for paramedics is sufficient for the lifestyle I want. I want to live with a friend while I’m young, maybe get a car since I’ve read insurance is a lot cheaper than in Ontario, though the metro would be fine, drinks now and then, occasional concerts and such and travel when I can.

Thanks so much for any answers.
I guess I was being a bit humble about how well I can speak french. I am fluent. I’m getting a bilingual certificate with honours from my school board. I can read, write and speak. Anyone I’ve ever spoken to from Quebec says I speak very good french. I’m only worried about some medical terminology, although I doubt it would be hard to learn because I took half my high school sciences in french.

I hope that there is a test for French. I would not like to be attended by a paramedic who did not speak my local language.

car insurance in montreal quebec and Help, I got into a car accident with a porsche cayenne?

car insurance in montreal quebec:

Question by agold_12: Help, I got into a car accident with a porsche cayenne?
I am 21 years old and last nite I was driving in my dads cayenne and when all of a sudden i slipped on a piece of ice, slammed on the break and the car slid right into a mazda 3 hatchback, wasn’t going that fast or anything.
The porches damage was substantial, damaged the bumper and broke one of the lights, the mazda 3 however was severely damaged, broken tail lights, broke back glass and major dent in trunk.
I live in Montreal, quebec, canada where we have no fault insurance, not quite sure what that is perhaps you could explain that to me. Can they sue me, the accident was my fault, no doubt about that. The deductable on my dads car is 3000 dollars, anything over our insurance company, allstate pays, what do you think the deductable is on the mazda, I estimate around 500 dollars.
It was my first car accident, i was horrified, i’m so nervous, what happens next?
Has anyone else ever gotten into a big accent, please help me?
the other guy has insurance 2, it was a kid driving his dad dealership car.

Best answer:

Answer by oklatom
You turn it in to your insurance company, who will contact the other insurance company and make arrangements to pay them for the damage you caused by not having your car under control. And someone will be paying the first $ 3,000 of course, you or dad.

Found cheap car insurance in montreal in Best vehicle for beginners?

cheap car insurance in montreal:

Question by Clover Reef: Best vehicle for beginners?
Okay, so I’m 24. Lived in Montreal since I was 16. No one I know here drives – it just isn’t really the thing to do. I never took driving lessons and don’t know anything about cars. In a few months I’ll be moving to a small town, and I’ll have to learn how to drive and buy a car.

I’ve done a bit of searching questions similar to mine about good first cars. It seems the general consensus is whatever’s low-maintenance and cheap on insurance, so I’ll do a bit more research on those things when the time comes. But right now I’m wondering about vehicle types.

I have a few pets, and we move around a lot, so a bigger vehicle seems more practical for our living conditions. Like a van, jeep, truck, etc. But they seem pretty hard on gas costs. There’s a lot of little cars I read about that are pretty good with mileage and general costs, but the size might be a problem.

So that’s my question. What’s the best type of vehicle for a beginner? Cost and handling-wise. Van, SUV, punch buggy, etc? Is it possible to get a bigger vehicle like a truck that’s cheap on gas? Sorry if I’m wordy, the car world is intimidating!
