Found auto insurance montreal in Do I get demerit points from a collision?

auto insurance montreal:

Question by Ziggy G: Do I get demerit points from a collision?
I live in Montreal QC, A driver hit my car in a parking lot and wasn’t my fault at all.
The driver also admitted their fault and said that their brake wasn’t working properly.
I made the claim to my auto insurance and explained to the agent that
I was getting out of a parking zone by reversing to my right and as I was finished, I stopped for 3 seconds as I was changing my gear to drive to move forward. But before I even move forward,
a car hit my left rear corner bumper. So then the agent told me that I am responsible anyway because it’s Quebec’s law and then later contacted the other driver and then called me back to confirm that I am responsible. Now…the problem is I have a probationary license and I am worried.

Does this mean that I cannot drive for like 3 months before getting my permanent license? I didn’t tell the agent that I have a probationary license.

So what will happen?

Answer by JetDoc
Unless your insurance agent is a lawyer, he needs to stop quoting laws he doesn’t understand.

You backed from a parking slot, came to a full and complete stop and another car came up and struck you from behind. There was no police presence at this ‘accident’ and no official police report filed. No one was issued a citation. You will not receive demerit points and no record at all will be posted to your driver’s license.

As far as insurance is concerned, I think you need to find another agent, because the one you have is not working in your best interest.

Found free auto insurance quotes in Do you cancel an auto insurance quote?

free auto insurance quotes:

Question by AmericanPsycho: Do you cancel an auto insurance quote?
I had an economics project and there was a section where I had to “purchase” auto insurance. Sure enough, I went to Geico and got a free quote, but the problem is that Geico is annoying to lock in the policy and actually have me as their customer. What can I do to tell them that I only wanted a policy for a project and I’m not really their customer?

Found auto insurance in How does auto insurance work in this situation?

auto insurance:

Question by Hottchica: How does auto insurance work in this situation?
I currently have two cars, a Toyoya and a Galant. My auto insurance will be renewed starting Feburary 1st which is in in about 2 days. I really think I will sell both cars w/in the next few wks(Toyota has high mileage and the Galant uses alot of gas) for a more fuel efficient car like a Honda. Is it possible to change automobiles in the middle of a coverage period? I’m not sure how it works. This is my 1st time with my own insurance. Thanks for the clarification!

Best answer:

Answer by MegaCabLongBed Guy
It depends on what company you’re with, but you SHOULD just be able to swap one car for another. The rate will probably be a little different, but the policy number should remain the same. They’ll also have to send you an updated liability card to reflect the change in vehicles.

Found auto insurance in How is auto insurance (a contracted business service within a capitalist economy) legally enforceable?

auto insurance:

Question by CogitoErgoCogitoSum: How is auto insurance (a contracted business service within a capitalist economy) legally enforceable?
How can a government, who supposedly stays as far out of a capitalist economy as possible, enforce that you purchase auto insurance? Isnt that a consumers right to buy or not buy?

One could argue that the privilege to drive at all is granted by the government, and you should abide by their requirements. But by that logic, wouldnt having insurance first be a prerequisite before you could get licensed?

Best answer:

Answer by Schmoolie
No, your logic is flawed. In this country we insure cars, not drivers. It is not driving that is illegal but driving a car which is not insured. I agree with a point you suggest however, in that I think we should insure drivers, not cars. Thus the government could colect a fee fro every driver and enforce a minimum insurance police on every driver then leave it to drivers to obtain more insurance if they want.
