car insurance in montreal quebec and Help, I got into a car accident with a porsche cayenne?
car insurance in montreal quebec:
Question by agold_12: Help, I got into a car accident with a porsche cayenne?
I am 21 years old and last nite I was driving in my dads cayenne and when all of a sudden i slipped on a piece of ice, slammed on the break and the car slid right into a mazda 3 hatchback, wasn’t going that fast or anything.
The porches damage was substantial, damaged the bumper and broke one of the lights, the mazda 3 however was severely damaged, broken tail lights, broke back glass and major dent in trunk.
I live in Montreal, quebec, canada where we have no fault insurance, not quite sure what that is perhaps you could explain that to me. Can they sue me, the accident was my fault, no doubt about that. The deductable on my dads car is 3000 dollars, anything over our insurance company, allstate pays, what do you think the deductable is on the mazda, I estimate around 500 dollars.
It was my first car accident, i was horrified, i’m so nervous, what happens next?
Has anyone else ever gotten into a big accent, please help me?
the other guy has insurance 2, it was a kid driving his dad dealership car.

You turn it in to your insurance company, who will contact the other insurance company and make arrangements to pay them for the damage you caused by not having your car under control. And someone will be paying the first $ 3,000 of course, you or dad.

A Look at auto insurance rates in Will my auto insurance rates go up if the accident is not my fault?
auto insurance rates:
Question by adopted: Will my auto insurance rates go up if the accident is not my fault?
I live in texas and a year ago, rear ended a vehicle in a low speed accident. They made a claim, but I did not. My insurance rates did not go up.
Today, I was hit from behind on the ice. The vehicle, a jeep, drove away as I was trying to gain traction and right my vehicle to avoid another collision. I did not get their license plate.
I have no choice but to file with my insurance company. Will my auto rates go up? And would it have been any different if my vehicle had been hit in a parking lot without my being there?

Answer by protruckdriver71
It is a difference as you were in control of the vehicle. Being on the roadway makes it a not at fault accident. In the parking lot, it is just a hit and run. It would be like whether or not you were parked at your house or driving down the road. Either way, you rates should not go up at all. It was a not at fault accident that you would couldn’t control. If your rates do go up, I suggest finding a company that will not raise your rates if you have an accident that is not your fault.

Question by Marín: When should you report a past accident when trying to find car insurance quotes?
Over a year ago, my car was totaled by fault of the other driver. My insurance company found the other driver to be 100% at fault, hers found me 15% at fault (I ended up only receiving 85% of my car’s value, etc). Anyway, I am shopping for a less expensive premium. Though my current car insurance company does not have an accident on my record, should I still report it when shopping around? Thanks!

Answer by mccoyblues
If the insurance company giving you the estimate can’t find a record of the accident I sure as heck wouldn’t offer to provide them with the details.
This is one of those cases where it’s best to just shut up and let them ask the questions.

A Look at auto insurance companies in Which auto insurance companies will not cancel policy/raise rates if there is an accident?
auto insurance companies:
Question by Christy H: Which auto insurance companies will not cancel policy/raise rates if there is an accident?
I am comparing prices for car insurance. I have had State Farm forever. After talking to them and asking them what I should look for when shopping for car insurance is a policy that wont cancel you or raise rates if you have an accident. We have made claims in the past (storm damage and I hit a tree stump – no actual vehicle to vehicle accidents) and our rates have not gone up. Do other companies do the same? What about Traveler’s Auto Insurance?

Hi Christy,
Get in touch with an insurance BROKER. They can give you names and rates from several different insurance companies.
